“It is so hard to believe that we are celebrating our 20th year, thank you to all that have been on this journey with us. Every year I think how I am going to come up with something new and fun that we haven’t done before, and of course I even surprise myself. Our time together has allowed us to foster new friendships, catch up with old friends and to offer support to others in time of need. I hope you enjoy this year’s itinerary for the week end embracing the old and new Seattle.” – Karen Kois, Program Director

Seattle Untamed
9:30am-11:30am(bus)
This is about a 90-minute walk tour in historic Pioneer Square. On July 17, 1897, an event happened that would rocket the economically depressed city of Seattle with a gross income of 9 million dollars to an explosive 750 million dollars in just 8 months. The steamship Portland docked in Seattle from Alaska. 30,000 to 40,000 of the estimated 70,000 stampeders, who outfitted to go to the Klondike, bought their “ton of provisions” in Seattle. They were required to bring a year’s supply of food & equipment. This is history, it’s captivating, entertaining and sometimes a little naughty!
Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park
11:45-12:30(walk)
The Park preserves the story of the stampede to the Yukon gold fields and Seattle’s crucial role in this event. The headlines of a Seattle newspaper on July 17, 1897, Gold! Gold! Gold! Ignited dreams of easy riches in the minds of thousands as a word of a rich gold strike in northwestern Canada. A dream that would proves all but dream.
