A Graduate is a participant who has completed each of the nine courses instructed by Dr. John C. Kois at the Kois Center.
Completion of Kois Courses 103 and 153 or 165, 173, 255, 275, 303, 403

A Mentor is a Kois Center Graduate who displays a thorough & working knowledge of the Kois Center concepts & methods.
- Accept the responsibility of being an integral part of the Kois Center and know that the integrity of the Kois Center itself relies on the personal integrity of its Members.
- Kois Center Graduate
- Pass the Mentor Exam
- Attend the Symposium at least 3 out of every 5 years or purchase of the Symposium materials from the previous year

- Attend a Kois Course as a Mentor
- No Charge
- Specific Mentor responsibilities will be established for each course.
- Accommodations provided at the Silver Cloud Inn (alternative: additional $150 Kois Bucks or $300 for Track Courses). The Kois Center will coordinate with the Silver Cloud Inn to cover your stay.
- Discounted course tuition
- Use of the Kois Center Mentor Title and/or Logo
Life Mentor
Those who have successfully fulfilled the criteria for becoming a Mentor, including passing the Mentor Exam, but have not maintained the requirements for Mentor membership as outlined above (note: “active” Mentor membership can be regained by fulfilling these attendance requirements)
Benefits
- Same as Mentor as outlined above with the exception of attending a Kois Course as a Mentor

A Clinical Instructor (“CI”) is a Kois Center Mentor who has an excellent understanding of the Kois Center concepts and applies these principles in their daily practice. In addition, this person has a genuine desire to teach others, as if they were an extension of the Kois Center.
- Accept the responsibility of being an integral part of the Kois Center and know that the integrity of the Kois Center itself relies on the personal integrity of its Members.
- Kois Center Mentor (completed and passed the Mentor Exam)
- Selected through a nomination & evaluation process
- Provided by Kois Center Staff and Clinical Instructors. Submitted to Advisory Board for Evaluation.
- Attend Annual CI Meeting every 2 of 3 years
- Attend the Annual Kois Center Symposium (Scientific Program) every 2 of 3 years
- Participate in Mentor Exams during the Annual Kois Center Symposium
- Participate annually as a CI Buddy for the Mentor Exams and/or on a Kois Center Committee
- Attend a Kois Course every 2 of 3 years (note: course registration is on a first-come first-serve basis)
- Attendance as a Mentor in a Kois Course at least three times

- Invitation to attend the Annual Clinical Instructor Meeting
- Invitation to attend the Annual Symposium
- Attend a Kois Course as a Clinical Instructor (no charge)
- Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the Mentors for the course
- Present a treated case
- $500 Kois Bucks ($1,000 for Track Courses)
- Accommodations provided at the Silver Cloud Inn (alternative: additional $150 Kois Bucks or $300 for Track Courses). The Kois Center will coordinate with the Silver Cloud Inn to cover your stay.
- Discounted course tuition
- Use of the Kois Center Clinical Instructor Title and/or Logo
- Use of the Kois Center Study Group Title and/or Logo
Life Clinical Instructor
- Those who have successfully fulfilled the criteria for becoming a Clinical Instructor but have not maintained the requirements for CI membership as outlined above.
Benefits
- Same as Clinical Instructor as outlined above with the exception of attending a Kois Course as a Clinical Instructor

A Recognized Specialist is a participant who has completed the designated Kois Courses which pertain to their specialized dental education.
